SeaWorld San Diego Review - An Awesome Aquarium and Marine Vacation Destination

SeaWorld San Diego Review - An Awesome Aquarium and Marine Vacation Destination

Created in 1964 by four University of California graduates, SeaWorld San Diego was first designed to be a submerged restaurant. This idea was rapidly changed into a 22 acre marine zoological park alongside the shore of Mission Bay. The Park debuted with 45 employees, a few dolphins, some sea lions, a couple of seawater aquariums and almost forty thousand visitors.
Today San Diego's Sea World offers world class exhibits, programs and interactions with animals in habitats that are as natural as man can make them. Dive into the world of sea turtles and get up close and personal with these incredible creatures. Watch as turtles trek across the ocean by viewing turtle adventures on a huge video wall.
One of the sweetest experiences at SeaWorld in California is the tide pool creatures like leathery sea stars and sea urchins with spikes. You can reach into the tide pool and connect with these creatures in a hands-on exploration of their ecosystems. Hold the starfish in your hands and maybe make a wish?
In their massive under and above ground pool you can gaze at killer whales as they glide beneath the surface of the water. This is an attraction that can keep you fascinated for hours. You will comment on how the whales almost know you are watching as they perform antics and tricks that almost rival the above water show.
Watch ground animals and don't miss vivid colors of the Southern ground hornbill. This is a popular resident of the Animal Connections Display and his eyelashes are so long they are actually sunshades. You can coo at this bird and almost each out and touch him.
There are over 16,000 animals at SeaWorld and if you want to experience taking care of these animals, sign up for a tour that takes you in a different working area of the Park. Your tour guide will give you fascinating facts about the park's commitment to wildlife you will be able to see animals in SeaWorld habitats. Walk around with a guide for a one hour tour and touch a shark; feed an endangered sea turtle, and view the Humboldt Penguin who is a threatened species.
Tour admission prices are posted on entertainment sites and a portion of your tour admission is donated to SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund. Make sure you are on time or you will miss the tour! Do note that the park admission applies and the fees for this tour are extra. You need to make cancellations at least 24 hours in advance or the price of the tour will not be refunded.
